If you Knew Me

I just finished watching the premiere of If you Knew me, a new show on MTV. It was all about something called 'Challenge Day." Challenge day is a one day assembly in highschool, where the students are challenged to come out of thier shells. Cliques separate, and teens come open. Oh boy did it bring me back to highschool. Cliques are in ever school, small or large. If you are a parent of a teeneager or pre teen THIS SHOW IS SOMETHING YOU NEED TO WATCh. I think it would give you and your child a good oppurtunity to be open and honest with each other.
As you know my kids are still several years away from Junior High & Highschool years ,but as an adult who has two beautiful children it opened my eyes. We need to be advisorys for our children. No matter what age they are. You can't protect them from harm the way you can when they are toddlers, but you  can be in the shadows waiting for them to lean on you. We all want what is best for our kids and even though I am not going through the teens right now I know they are tough. Sorry mom:)
Expectations are going to be hard to set for our kids. My plan is to teach my children that RIGHT NOW and ALWAYS I am here. I plan to teach them right from wrong. I plan to teach them that the world is harsh, and everyone goes through tough times, but they dont have to copy what is seen around them.  Uniqueness is the way to be.
Some of the students feelings and phrases that were said ,on the show,I could definiatlly relate to.  So be open with your child and show no judgement. I think that as Adults (even if you dont have kids) we can all learn from this as well. Judgment is not for us on earth to decide. Sadly though it comes all to easily. We are all about apperance. Ever heard of the saying "Don't judge a book by its cover." Well I say when it comes to being out in the world "Don't Judge a person by his/her eye's, look at thier heart." The cliche "Beauty is on the inside," is so true and so overlooked. So as you are walking halls in school, becoming an adult out in the world, or raising a family remember that everyone around you has eyes too. Be the strong, fearless person that leads by example.
Talk to someone. Listen to someone. Learn about them.

KATE PLUS 8....KATE IS JUST A MOM

Last Night was the premier of KATE PLUS 8.  It was kind of a bittersweet situation because I didnt get to cuddle with my son and watch. {not the first time anyways} We use to love watching the new shows until the whole tabloid stuff came about of course. At first I decided to keep letting Zackary {4} at the time keep watching. Until one night he said "Why is there mommy always leaving." That night I decided he couldnt watch it anymore. I didn't want him worring that I was going to pack up and leave. I was disappointed with TLC for showing all the negative. I felt like the world was already full of negativity and I didnt need it in this family show. However I did realize that this show wasn't a sitcom. It was the true lives of this family. I then felt sorry for this woman, her children and even her husband. However I still couldnt place myself in this moms shoes.
Last night changed my mind.  I watched and I have to say that I could certainly relate to this woman. She is just a hardworking mother. I believe I could be friends with this woman. I think people are to quick to read the tabloids and to judge what they read. Remember that tabloids get paid to write. Good Bad or Ugly. They are going to write about anything and everything true, false or indifferent. So screen the show and then watch with your little ones. Remember Kate is just a hard working mommy. Like you and I, she has real fears, and dreams. If you prick her she will bleed.

Mothers Day

Mother's Day is tomorrow! I just wanted to reflect on how it makes me feel to be a mother!
I have two children who are my whole entire world! I would do anything for these two angels! I don't understand how any mother could not put their children FIRST!
When I wake up in the morning which is normally about 6:30am, The first thing on my mind is getting my son up for school, Second is getting my daughter dressed to ride with me, Then what to feed them. I wake up and thier on my mind and I go to bed asking God to take care of them. My babies made me a mother. They are who I will be celebrating tomorrow. Remember, who made you a mom, and celebrate them! Also remember your own mother on Mother's day!

Overwhelmed By net

When your child is diagnosed with an illness whatever it may be. You do what doctors and people tell you, you are going to try everything you can do make your child feel better and "cure" him/her. My son is 5 and has suspected Attention Deficit Disorder (also known as ADD). When that was first thrown at me I was almost horrified I asked myself 3 questions.
1)How can MY baby be ill?
2)What did I do to cause him to have this?
3) How can I help him?

I got over intial shock pretty quickly as the nightly fights and arguements went on and on I started to accept that it is more likely than not Attention Deficit Disorder. I started looking on the internet for help. Boy of Boy that was wrong thing to do. Yes I found lots of information. Yes I found lots of ideas. Changing his diet, tightneing routine, differenct medications and there side effects, Horror stories of people who have had or been suspected of having ADD. I

One Day I found myself at grocery store struggling to pick a cearal for him. For a 5 year old boy! I then reliazed that while I wanted to do best for Zackary, I was hurting him with all these changes. Diet changes if your going to do them need to be gradual. I understand the links between sugar and hyperness, but I can't deprive this child of some morning treat he likes. At least its not a candy bar. I have since stayed away from reaserching ADD on net. I do go to a few forums online to just lend support to other moms that are in my situation. I realized that there has to be a balance in everything I do. I want to help Zack in anyway possible not hurt him

So Anyways that is just bit of my find with reasearching the net and my opionin is stick to listening to your doctors advice. You are not a bad mom for not spending hours upon hours reasearching add and different ways that may or may not help your child

You Know Your a Mom When....

I found this on net and thought I would share...Laughter is the best medicine...

You Know You're A Mom When...
Your feet stick to grape jelly on the kitchen floor..... and you don't care.
When the kids are fighting, you threaten to lock them in aroom together and not let them out until someone's bleeding.
You can't find your cordless phone, so you ask a friend tocall you, and you run around the house madly, following thesound until you locate the phone downstairs in the laundry basket.
Your idea of a good day is making it through without a child leaking bodily fluids on you.
Popsicles become a food staple.
Your favorite television show is a cartoon.
You're willing to kiss your child's boo-boo, regardless of what body part it happens to be on.
You're so desperate for adult conversation that you spillyour guts to the telemarketer that calls and HE hangs up on YOU!
Spit is your number one cleaning agent.
You buy cereal with marshmallows in it.
You count the sprinkles on each kid's cupcake to make sure they're equal.
You have time to shave only one leg at a time.
You hide in the bathroom to be alone.
Your kid throws up and you catch it.
You cling to the high moral ground on toy weapons; but yourchild chews his toast into the shape of a gun anyway
You find yourself cutting your husband's sandwiches into cute shapes.
You're up each night until 11 PM vacuuming, dusting, wiping, washing, drying, loading, unloading, shopping, cooking, driving, flushing, ironing, sweeping, picking up, changingsheets, changing diapers, bathing, helping with homework, paying bills, budgeting, clipping coupons, folding clothes, putting to bed, dragging out of bed, brushing, chasing, buckling, feeding (them, NOT you), PLUS swinging, playingbaseball, bike riding, pushing trucks, cuddling dolls, rollerblading, basketball, football, catch, bubbles, sprinklers, slides, nature walks, coloring, crafts, jumpingrope, PLUS raking, trimming, planting, edging, mowing, gardening, painting, and walking the dog. You get up at5:30 AM and you have no time to eat, sleep, drink or goto the bathroom, and yet ... you still managed to gain 10 pounds.
